Be prepared...Conflict questions will come up. How will you confidently respond?
The way you answer questions about conflict in an interview helps an interviewer assess how well you'll work together with co-workers and customers....
According to a poll in an article about conflict, approximately 50% of conflicts are with co-workers, 43% with supervisors, and 7% with subordinates.
You'll be expected to have an answer for the conflict question so avoid saying that you have never had a conflict or difficult situation that you were faced with. Without placing any blame, explain a conflict situation, how it was resolved, what was learned from it and what value you brought to the table!
Many times, conflicts are caused by simple mistakes, such as not providing enough information or unclear communication. The interviewer should know how you've improved and added value to a conversation and relationship by the way you communicate.
How can you prepare for these tough questions? Be ready to share at least 2 examples and get practice delivering your value proposition when you're having career conversations (grab the VALUE PROPOSITION WORKSHEET).
