Are you highly qualified, but sending out resumes and filling out applications doesn’t seem to be getting you anywhere? It’s time to take a fresh look at your strategy! If you think that everything is your resume, you're
wrong. You're resume is a fraction of your career strategy.
5 ACTIONS YOU MUST TAKE
BEFORE SUBMITTING ANOTHER RESUME
1. Reevaluate your job search system. It's NOT WORKING.
The way that we have searched for jobs in the past has followed a certain predictable pattern: we would find a job post, apply for it, and then wait, hoping that someone would reach out to us. As you wait, your chances dwindle
as does your confidence. You are just one applicant in their system and competition is stiff.
2. Update your resume using Value Statements---Specifically, how you will solve the problems that are described in the job description.
By clearly articulating the outcomes and impact of your prior experiences, you’ll show your value in your resume, online profiles and conversations that lead to career referrals & interview opportunities. Start
recording and practicing your VALUE PROPOSITIONS! Download your Value Proposition Worksheet here.
3. Optimize your LinkedIn profile.
Hiring Managers & Recruiters are searching for potential candidates using keywords. Invest time researching key words and certainly those within the JOB DESCRIPTION and weave those keywords into your
profile.
4. Research the Company.
See if you have any connections that might be able to introduce you to the hiring manager. Up to 80% of positions are filled through referrals, NOT APPLICATIONS.
5. Follow up.
You've worked hard to get the meeting, referral or interview. Take a moment and thank people in your network, the interviewer and the person that referred you. Even if it doesn’t result in an immediate opportunity,
you’ll stand out and be remembered as the pro that you are.
Leaders don't wait in line, they take the lead through NETWORKING and conduct a DELIBERATE CAREER SEARCH using our proven career advancement strategy!
LinkedIn has upped the word and character count for your HEADLINE (under your profile headshot) from 120 to 220. It’s still a good idea to keep it concise which may take some word smithing, but now you have more room to include “key words” for your profile to show up.
Remember, your HEADLINE goes with you all over LinkedIn and using the right key words (without being too wordy) will allow hiring managers to find you faster. Try to make every word count.
Create a document, title it HEADLINES and write 3-5 headlines options before choosing the one that has the most impact. Every once and awhile, you may want to refresh your headline and now you have some options on a single document.

JOB TITLES MATTER
By Isidora Prohaska · August 6, 2021
"Titles aren't arbitrary. People who tell you they are probably have fancy titles of their own.
Titles show off years of growth and hard work and have the ability to steer your career in the right direction. They're tied to compensation, they outline the steps that lie ahead, and they make you more (or less) attractive as you search for jobs."
