Are you active on social media? Do you create or share content that represents your area of expertise and value?
REACH OUT TO INDIVIDUAL CONNECTIONS
Networking is about meeting more business connections and strengthening relationships. I't important to keep in touch by reaching out to individuals and a good idea to set a goal for how many you reach out to on a regular basis. Be
curious about them, share an article, and make introductions to others in your network that can be resources.
Last week, I went through my LinkedIn home page and scrolled through posts. I was surprised to see that most posts were about current events of interest, inspirational quotes, and personal stories, but very few posts related to the
individual's area of expertise.
POSTING is where you can set yourself apart in your career strategy--- post on topics that associate you with your expertise to add VALUE.
WHY YOU SHOULD POST ON TOPICS RELATED TO YOUR EXPERTISE
You can stay in touch through your posts and reach a lot of people in your network when you post. They see you are active and posting keeps you "top of mind".
Make a point of showing up with something that associates you and reminds your connections of what makes you
unique.
If you are a technical program manager, then you should post your own content or share the creations of others on that topic.
As part of your career strategy, posting about your expertise will remind your network to think of you if opportunities arise, otherwise you can be forgotten.
And for those of you that are shy about reaching out to colleagues you have not talked to in years, your posts will remind them of you!
So, show up online a few times a week to stay on the minds of your network.
