If you agree that your career is the best investment you can make, then every outreach, conversation, and piece of content you create should be framed around the value you deliver.
If you believe in your value but don't communicate in a way that gets attention, then you'll lose to someone that has a clear position, but not necessarily more value.

A Story of What Happens When You Become So Sure,
YOU'RE WILLING TOTAKE A STAND...
Most executives walk into a job search trying to fit the role. My client walked in having already decided the role fit him because he knew he was the right candidate. We did a lot of work on
communicating VALUE.
He was a senior VP executive — clear on his expertise, clear on the opportunity, and clear on what he could
deliver. His first conversation was with the hiring manager (and his original connection).
The process shifted from the hiring
manager to HR when it came time to discuss an offer. Although most candidates accept this hand-off, he knew that a negotiation of this consequence belonged with the decision-maker — not a gatekeeper.
When HR brought an offer that was way off the mark, he calmly reminded them of his value as a statement of fact — and said he was going to pass.
The response on the other end was a gut punch. He was a candidate who had
done all of his homework and clearly communicated his value to the hiring manager.
Re-enter the hiring manager — the right person
— and that is when the real negotiation began. In the end, my client received more than he expected---we worked on his positioning and they wanted him.
Saavy leaders know that the way you negotiate for yourself is exactly how you signal you'll negotiate for your employer. His communication, composure, and clarity under pressure was demonstrated leadership behavior — and they noticed.
