It's time to tell you what I've seen as I've met with executive prospects and their career strategies...
Few have a career strategy.
Being vulnerable is avoided.
If they've lost their job due to a lay-off, they are not sure how to proceed and sometimes quickly acquiesce to pursing a lesser position.

WHY DO THIS ALONE?
If you want to go it alone, then be prepared for a long journey.
You'll need to figure out what is and is not working all by yourself.
You may not have the courage to apply skills you already have.
You only have one
perspective of what's working or not.
You have no system, accountability or partner.
You're not sure how to present your value
Presenting your ROI is an
act of confidence that eludes you.
The sound of someone "doing it alone". It takes longer and gets harder as time passes when you dont have a feedback system.
"My biggest challenge is getting noticed by recruiters and hiring managers----they don't even respond and this puts me at a dead stop.
It’s been really frustrating. I’ve
been making frequent new contacts and doing everything I can, but I can’t seem to get any action or interviews."
IF IT'S NOT WORKING, DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT
Instead of lessening your value to find something/anything, learn your value and promote it.
You're a leader. Communicate with other leaders as an equal.
Keep in touch with the right people and plenty of them--create an accountability system for yourself.
Make your meetings about the people you reach out to, not about the job you're seeking. Evaluate what you can say differently that makes knowing you and having a discussion compelling for the other
person.
Identify the outcomes you want from your search, then the activity that will get you there faster. Devalue activity that just keeps you busy.
Am I kidding about this reality check? No. People you know or need to know are getting bombarded with "asks" just like you.
To get people to
meet, you must be interesting, you must be a resource and reach out to enough professionals to generate enough career activity so you have choices .
Your outreach and skills that you learn will serve you the rest of your career.
