Every day, leaders enact on a roadmap to succeed by developing initiatives and managing programs for the company. The company sets the vision and their top
leaders get to execute the plan.
Usually, executives articulate their own vision for what they want to be in their career such as CXO, VP, Senior Director, etc., but "they just
want to be there". A career progression for their own strategy is vague (unlike what they would create for a company initiative).
We read about exceptional leadership qualities and behavior and they are well defined, such as good communication, taking risks, leading by example, being empathetic and vulnerable, to name a few.
