Your Career Depends on Knowing This About Yourself
Published: Tue, 11/22/22
Hello !
It's great to take a break from all the uncertainty presented in the news and what it does to our mindset. You can empower yourself to make a difference in your career by knowing
your VALUE.
This can be your time to reboot, refocus and scale your career by adopting new habits that will make you a stand out and
change your career trajectory.
Something to
think about as you celebrate with friends and family.
Happy Thanksgiving!
The topic today is about bragging, sometimes confused with value. Many times, professionals feel as though they are bragging. When they do, they hold themselves back from recognizing and sharing their value as a resource for others.
Bragging is when you try to “one-up” someone.
Sharing your value has a different intention. It allows others to understand what you've done and how you can contribute as a
resource.
Value is also what allows you to
be the preferred candidate for a new job, to influence others, expand your network, get a promotion, be referred to a job, receive impressive performance reviews and advance your career.
You need to know your value and be sold on yourself before others can be sold on you. This is especially important in order to make an immediate impact on your confidence so you can stand out.
Can you succinctly describe your value along with a story about the impacts you've made in your career?
You'll be prepared to share the value of what you've done knowing that you can contribute.
Communicate genuinely and confidently
Make decisions, including those that have some risk
Take the credit you deserve
Proactively network with employees, colleagues & peers
Speak up and stand your ground
Demonstrate resourcefulness and build your peer network
Consistently mentor and coach your teams
Present your leadership through example
